July 18, 2019
Edwardsville, Illinois – Scott Credit Union has partnered with the Glen-Ed Sports Association to finance a third multi-purpose turf soccer field at the new Plummer Family Park being built in Edwardsville.
SCU representatives met recently with officials from the sports association and with Mayor Hal Patton to finalize the financing and discuss the future of the partnership for the sports park.
Scott Credit Union is providing $320,000 in financing to the sport association to fund the third turf field. In June, Glen-Ed Sports Association provided $120,000 to the City of Edwardsville for the usage and installation of the third turf field.
The sports association will have more high quality multi-purpose fields and a home for its activities in the new park with the help of Scott Credit Union’s financing, according to SCU Vice President Chris Davis.
“This is a great opportunity for Scott Credit Union to be involved with a local organization on a project that will bring this top-tier sports facility to our community,” Davis said. “We are extremely excited to be working with the Glen-Ed Sports Association. It is a great organization with people who really want to make Edwardsville a great place to live.”
The Glen-Ed Sports Association facility in the new park will allow the soccer club to train on premium fields and offer more league games for Missouri, Southern and Central Illinois.
The City of Edwardsville is in the process of building the Plummer Family Park on 83 acres off Goshen Road and will have a mix of baseball and soccer fields, pickle ball courts, and open green space.
“We are proud to be partnering with the City of Edwardsville and Scott Credit Union on this project that will benefit the community,” Glen-Ed Sports Association Treasurer Chuck Hentz said. “After the park was approved, our association President Mark Rimkus approached Mayor Patton and his team about building a third turf field. We are happy to bring Scott Credit Union in on the project to provide the funding. This is truly a great community effort.”
