Pelican State CU Grants $15,000 in College Scholarships
June 25, 2019
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA – Pelican State Credit Union granted $15,000 in college scholarships to graduating Pelican members based on their academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership, and community service.
Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 were awarded to one member from each of Pelican’s 11 branch parishes as well as one out of state member. Plus, for the first time this year, the credit union offered two new $1,000 awards designed to benefit students who have excelled in specific areas outside of their scholastic record.
The Heart for Service Award was created to honor a student who exhibited outstanding service and dedication to their community, and the Pelican Perseverance Award was created to help a student who displayed strength and commitment to overcome adversity and challenges in their life. Both awards were given to one highly deserving student, bringing the total number of scholarship winners to 14.
