Falcon Heights, MN - SPIRE President/CEO, Dan Stoltz, has been honored with the 2019 H.E.R.B.I.E. Award, presented at the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce's 20th Annual Foundation Luncheon.  Named after hockey coach, Herb Brooks, the H.E.R.B.I.E. award recognizes individuals and businesses who exemplify the traits inspired by its namesake: Humanitarian, Enterprising, Resilient, Bold, Inspirational and Ethical.  Each year one business and one individual is selected.  Past individual winners include Robert Naegele Jr., founding owner of the Minnesota Wild, and former St. Paul Mayor, Chris Coleman

Stoltz’s personal philosophy that “life is about giving, not getting,” is evident in his leadership at SPIRE.  He has built SPIRE into a #1 rated performing credit union in Minnesota and 15th nationally (out of over 6,000, according to SNL Financial).   The list of accolades Stoltz has received in his career is impressive, and include: Northern Star Council’s 2018 Community Builder Award from the Boy Scouts of America, 2015 Outstanding Professional of the Year from the Minnesota Credit Union Network, and 2017 Executive of the Year from DECA for leadership development in area high schools.

Then he served as the 2016-2017 Minneapolis Aquatennial Commodore, which included over 300 appearances. Stoltz is the first person ever to serve as head of the Winter Carnival and Aquatennial in back-to-back years.

In addition to serving as President/CEO of $1.1 billion SPIRE Credit Union with 110,000+ members, 300+ employees and eighteen branches, he holds current board and leadership positions with: St. Paul Police Foundation, Regions Hospital Foundation, PGA Tour Executive Committee, Ordway Center for the Arts and Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union.  Stoltz is respected among business professionals, community leaders, and employees for his tremendous business acumen coupled with contagious positivity and passion for giving back.
