Dakota Credit Unions Raise Over $2,500 for CUFD

Bismarck, ND - All through the month of April, the Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas (CUFD) held their 3rd Dakota Credit Unions Care Campaign, in conjunction with CUNA’s National Credit Union Youth Month. After receiving all the donations from the participating credit unions and the individuals who pledged to match our CEO Jeff Olson’s challenge, we are thrilled to report that the final total raised this year was $2,547.61! This is the most money raised so far during this campaign over the past three years.
The donations came from 12 individual credit union professionals who responded to Jeff’s challenge of $1 a day equaling $30 and the outstanding participation from 14 credit unions in North Dakota and South Dakota.
“On behalf of the Foundation, we could not be happier with the results of this year’s campaign,” says Lori Welder, Executive Director. “Our credit unions are always receptive to our calls for action, and this was no exception. Rest assured, the funds will be put to good use as we continue our efforts to create more positive awareness of credit unions around the Dakotas,” she added.

The Dakota Credit Unions Care Campaign features little green CU Hero icons which are supplied by the Foundation, to be purchased and displayed throughout our member credit unions across the two states. Credit union staff, volunteers and members participate by making a $1 donation, and all proceeds go directly to the CUFD to support children’s charities, financial education, scholarships, and community needs.
The Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas (CUFD) is the charitable arm of the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas. Its purpose is to build community awareness of Dakota credit unions through the support of children’s charities, community and social impact organizations or projects, financial education and financial literacy programs through the credit union chapter system, and to provide higher education scholarships throughout our service region in the Dakotas.
