IC Federal Credit Union Awards $7,500 in Scholarships

Fitchburg, MA – Last night at their Annual Meeting of Shareholders, IC Federal Credit Union announced their 2019 Senior Scholarship Program Award Recipients. Five college-bound seniors were presented $1,500 each for achieving nearly perfect scores from the IC Scholarship Committee, weighted by GPA, extracurricular activities, and response to this essay question: In about 250 words, how would you help the community in which you live, what type of program would you endorse or create, and how would you spread the message throughout the community to promote this program.
Matthew Blood, graduated from Ayer Shirley Regional High School, will looks to continue his education at the UMass Lowell, where he will study Mechanical Engineering. “In my free time,” said Matthew, “I am involved in FIRST Robotics, Boy Scouts, football, baseball, indoor track, band, and I am a member of my student council.”
Samuel Boudreau graduated from Fitchburg High School. “I am going to Worcester Polytechnic Institute for Undeclared Engineering, said Sam, “and in my free time, I like to bike and snowboard.”
Isabella Boyack graduated from Oakmont Regional High School and will be attending UMass Common Wealth Honors College as a biochemistry and molecular biology major and is on a pre-med track. “In high school, I played lacrosse and soccer along with being the Vice President of NHS and treasurer of SADD,” said Isabella, “and I love spending time with friends and family especially on the beach during the summer and am super excited to start this next chapter of my life.”
Greta Jarvi graduated from Massachusetts Academy of Math & Science, and continued on as a high school student to attend a program in France for one year. She will return later this summer and will be attending UMass Amherst in the fall.
Madelyn Thrasher, a graduate of Quabbin Regional High School, will be continuing her education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the fall. “I plan on majoring in biomedical engineering so I can build prosthetics,” said Madelyn, “In my spare time, I enjoy running, four-wheeling, target shooting, hunting and going to concerts.”
At the IC Annual Meeting, three of the scholarship recipients (shown in photo above) were able to attend the meeting and enjoy dinner with their families, staff and IC Members.
