Somerville, MA - Naveo Credit Union collected 250 books during the month of April as part of their Children’s Book Drive.  Each year, Naveo Credit Union participates in the statewide book drive spearheaded by the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) to benefit the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. This year, the CCUA and the Coalition took a unique approach by distributing collected books to children who benefit from their A Bed for Every Child program, which provides a bed, mattress and warm bedding items for children within our community who do not have a proper place to sleep at night.

Naveo got the word out about their collection via press releases, their Facebook page, email blasts and their community partners. Naveo has exceeded their goal for several consecutive years and increased their level of participation based on the previous year’s collection. Over the past eight years, Naveo has collected over 2,000 books.

“The Children's Book Drive is such an important initiative that ensures children in our community have access to books. We are proud to participate in events that have a direct impact in the neighborhoods we serve, like the annual Children's Book Drive.  We’d like to extend a big thank you to our generous members, staff and neighbors who helped us exceed our goal and give the gift of reading to children in need,” commented Rui F. Domingos, Chief Executive Officer at Naveo Credit Union.
