RAPID CITY, S.D. – Passionate about serving their community, employees at Black Hills Federal Credit Union donated supplies and volunteered with a number of nonprofits this March, including the HOPE Center (photo above), Feeding South Dakota and Pierre Area Referral Service.

During their annual donation drive for the HOPE Center, employees collected hundreds of cleaning supplies, toiletries and basic hygiene items. The Rapid City-based nonprofit provides a variety of services to those living in poverty and without a home, including classes, mentoring, a mail/telephone center, short and long-term storage and more.

“The HOPE Center is an important resource for many individuals in our community, who are working to better their situation,” said Stacey Moulton, co-chair of BHFCU’s Community Action Team project to benefit the HOPE Center. “We hope our donation will encourage and provide many of the Center’s recipients with the boost they need.”

Employees also raised $700 for Feeding South Dakota through a jeans day fundraiser and participated in the Club for Boys’ Corporate Free Throw Challenge in Rapid City. Additionally, they volunteered to package food with the Pierre Area Referral Service’s BackPack Program and donated more than 2,000 bottles of water to residents on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, who have been impacted by the recent flooding.

This April, BHFCU’s employees and members are participating in Community Action Team projects to benefit Readiatrics, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills and area domestic violence centers.

With support from its members, BHFCU’s employee-led Community Action Team contributes to and volunteers with more than 60 local, charitable organizations and causes through the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, every year. You can get involved with and stay up-to-date on all of BHFCU’s projects by following BHFCU on Facebook.
