Rapid City, SD – Black Hills Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the selection of BHFCU employees Heidi Bulman and Casey Monroe as recipients of the Duane Ellingson “Passion for Service” Memorial Scholarship.

Established in 2015 in remembrance of former Manager/President Duane Ellingson, the scholarship program gives BHFCU employees the opportunity to attend a national, credit union-related conference or program. Successful applicants must demonstrate leadership, a passion for learning and dedication to the credit union movement.

“Duane was a visionary thinker and innovative strategist who deeply cared for staff and members,” said Roger Heacock, President/CEO of BHFCU. “Heidi and Casey have a passion for service that aligns with Duane’s legacy and BHFCU’s mission to improve lives. I’m proud to have them represent BHFCU.”

Bulman, who serves as BHFCU’s community development officer, will take part in the National Credit Union Foundation’s Credit Union Development Educators Program in Madison, Wisconsin. Meanwhile, Monroe, a personal financial associate at BHFCU’s Downtown Member Service Center, will attend America’s Credit Union Conference in in Orlando, Florida.

Both Bulman and Monroe said they are looking forward to engaging with other credit union leaders. They are excited to share what they learn with their coworkers to better serve BHFCU’s members.
