Brainerd, Minn. - Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union (MMFCU) staff recently volunteered with the United Way of Crow Wing and Cass Counties Operation Sandwich. Their efforts helped to pack 475 bags of food for children in Crow Wing and Cass Counties for spring break.

Operation Sandwich is a grassroots program, created to help end childhood hunger. They feed kids during the summer months when free and reduced meals are not available.

In Independent School District 181 (ISD181) there are around 6648 students. 2744 of those students are on free and reduced lunch programs. Operation Sandwich is trying to make sure that those children have food during the summer and while school is not in session.
