Dakota West CU Awarding $2,000 in Scholarships
February 28, 2019
Watford City, ND – Continuing its annual tradition, Dakota West Credit Union has invited high school seniors throughout the communities it serves to participate in its 2019 scholarship opportunity. Four $500 scholarships will be awarded to members of Dakota West Credit Union through an essay competition focusing on the financial institution’s values: Communication, Respectfulness, Positive Attitude, and Responsibility.
“Our values represent who we strive to be to our members and our communities, and we believe many of North Dakota’s next generation of business leaders, entrepreneurs, and advocates for these values are among this year’s graduating seniors,” Juliet Jones, Marketing Coordinator for Dakota West Credit Union offered when asked about the purpose of the scholarship. “We want to add to their experiences after high school, and help defer some of the costs that students encounter when they get to their dorm or trade school.”
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be graduating this spring, be a member at any of the eight branches of Dakota West Credit Union, and compose an essay based on one of the values of the non-profit credit union.
Established in 1941, each of the Dakota West Credit Union branches and its members and employees help grow the Dakota West family with exceptional commitment to building relationships and strengthening communities. Offering scholarships to students within its communities continues its focus on this growth through the next generation. Applications for the scholarship are available on the Dakota West Credit Union website. The deadline for submission is Friday, April 19, 2019 with winners announced on Friday, May 10 on Dakota West Credit Union’s Facebook page.
