Unitus Community Credit Union, a Portland-based credit union with more than 80,000 members, is giving local, socially-conscious residents a good reason to become a member. Between now and June 30, the credit union will donate $100 to a select local charityup to a total of $5,000for every new checking account opened.

Who Cares? We Care" campaign launched earlier this month in partnership with several charities, and gives residents an opportunity to join one of Oregons strongest financial institutions, as well as financially support their favorite nonprofit.
"Giving back to our local community is a core value at Unitus," said Laurie Kresl, VP of Planning and Business Development. "This campaign is one more way our success as a credit union can benefit our local communities."
A resident who joins Unitus in May or June can choose to direct the credit unions $100 donation to one of the following 12 charities:

Unitus is recognized as one of Portlands most generous companies, and has received the
Portland Business Journals Corporate Philanthropy award the last three years.
In addition to charitable financial giving, Unitus is committed to completing a "Random Act of Kindness" each month in one of its communities. Past efforts have included establishing an emergency food pantry for one local community and clothing drives for the homeless.
