(Riverside, Calif.)  Jan. 9, 2018 – Altura Credit Union employees helped fulfill Christmas wishes of more than 300 local families in crisis this holiday season through The Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree holiday program.

“In addition to fulfilling 50 Christmas wishes through our own Angel Tree, Altura was especially honored to host ‘distribution day’ for 300 Riverside area families served through the Salvation Army program,” said Tina Covington, Altura Vice President, Sales and Business Development. “This program is really special to our employees. In addition to their donations, 30 of them volunteered at the distribution center.

“We provided space for the Salvation Army to organize the toys for the children where their parents could pick them up in time for Christmas,” Covington added. “It was truly an honor working with The Salvation Army and other volunteers who care so much for the children in our communities,” Covington added.

According to The Salvation Army, the nationwide Angel Tree program is designed to raise in-kind gifts to assist families who are in crisis as a result of medical issues, unemployment, homelessness, medical issues or other difficult circumstances and who otherwise wouldn't have the resources to celebrate Christmas. Tags are placed on Christmas trees as if they are ornaments, from which people can select the wishes to fulfill.
