New York, NY - In the spirit of giving back this holiday season, more than 30 Municipal Credit Union employees teamed up to pack and donate 150 grocery bags for in-need families across New York City on Thursday, December 20, 2018. This is the second annual holiday repack event for MCU, which was in partnership with food rescue organization City Harvest.

“Giving back to our members and fellow New Yorkers is a shared value across Municipal Credit Union, said MCU Employee Engagement Coordinator Brooke Durrah who helped to organize this event. “This volunteer initiative is another great example of our demonstrated commitment to continue to build lifetime quality relationships. We are thrilled that we could offer our time and talents to such a worthy cause!”

Today, nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers struggle to put meals on their tables and we have scaled up our efforts to fight hunger. This year, City Harvest will collect 55 million pounds of excess food from grocers, bakeries, manufacturers, farms, and restaurants, and deliver it free of charge to 500 soup kitchens, food pantries, and other community food programs.
