Knoxville, TN - On August 6, ORNL Federal Credit Union (ORNL FCU) celebrated its 70th anniversary. The credit union has been honoring its past, present, and future throughout 2018 in a variety of ways, including the recent announcement of a special dividend for its member-owners.

For the first time since 2005, ORNL FCU issued a special dividend to members on Friday, October 19, 2018. The ORNL FCU Board of Directors approved the $3 million special dividend during their August 2018 board meeting.

“The credit union has experienced strong growth, good earnings, and remains well-capitalized,” said Randy Gorman, chair of the ORNL FCU Board. “For these reasons, and to celebrate our anniversary, this special dividend is an appropriate way to return value and express appreciation to the members.”

In addition to celebrating its 70th anniversary, ORNL FCU also reached a major milestone in 2018; in April, the credit union announced it had exceeded $2 billion in assets. As a member-owned financial cooperative, ORNL FCU shares its growth and success with all the members who continue to make the credit union thrive.
