Service CU Recognized for Helping Improve Financial Literacy in Their Community

Portsmouth, NH (December 3, 2018) – The Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) recently presented Service Credit Union (SCU) with its Excellence in Financial Education Award for its commitment to financial literacy.

The award signifies SCU’s continual efforts to promote a fuller awareness of credit unions and money management through workshops, seminars, reality fairs and training programs. SCU focuses on teaching financial literacy to members of its community in every stage of their lives. From its youth programs to reality fairs for middle school through college students, to online seminars for adults, SCU is dedicated to having each individual develop and maintain smart money habits.

According to the nomination, SCU is proud to have offered financial education programs which have reached close to 8,000 students from elementary school to college level. Service Credit Union’s youth programs present high-quality, straightforward concepts for making sound financial decisions that will be beneficial throughout one’s life. It also stated that SCU’s education department also proactively expanded the financial reality fairs to the University of New Hampshire students in 2017-2018.

SCU also remains committed to educating its staff through regular class instruction on Creating Member Loyalty, Loan Officer Candidacy and Mentor Program.
