Anaconda, MT - This year, the employees and members of Southwest MT Community FCU came together to celebrate the spirit of giving thanks by hosting a food drive for the Anaconda Food Bank. Members have been dropping off non-perishable food items at the credit union's Anaconda branch over the past two weeks to help families that are in need of food this holiday. Kathy Griffith, the food bank's executive director, expressed her appreciation. “We are so grateful to live in this community where we can have the support of our credit union and its membership to help fill the shelves.” The idea grew from a conversation that Sharon Mihelic had with a member who works at the food bank and told her they were "very short on food this year." "So," Sharon said, "I just mentioned that I would do what I could and get the word out and help." That help turned into a plan to organize the food drive on behalf of the credit union. This is the first year that Southwest MT FCU has done a food drive, but they plan to make it annual event if they continue to get a good response.
