NEFCU Williston, VT—From October 2nd through October 20th, New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU), along with local community organizations and businesses, conducted the 2018 Food from the Heart Drive to help those in need.  Non-perishable food items and canned goods were collected at NEFCU’s St. Albans Branch and other locations and were donated to NorthWest Family Foods and Milton Community Food Shelf.

Over 300 pounds of food were collected at the NEFCU St. Albans Branch, and NEFCU augmented that with a $500 cash donation. Contributions from the communities of Franklin County and Milton brought the total food collection to 2,742 pounds—more than a ton of food made available to local families.

“Hunger is on the rise in Vermont,” noted Cindy Morgan, NEFCU’s Senior Marketing Officer. “According to the USDA, one in seven Vermonters struggle with hunger. We’re honored to join forces with community organizations and businesses to help address this critical need.”

NorthWest Family Foods (northwestfamilyfoods.org) is located on-site at Franklin Grand Isle Community Action (FGICA) in St. Albans, serving the community daily from 1:00 to 4:00, and provides off-site services twice a month in Richford, Alburg, and Grand Isle.
