Grand Forks, ND - We live in a world where cyber threats are an extremely real (and all too often) problem in our personal and professional lives. That is why University Federal Credit Union’s CEO Lacy TerWee agreed to serve on a cybersecurity panel during a symposium hosted by UND School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department. The panel served as an expert level of information on the subject.

The symposium was held on campus on October 18, coinciding with National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. It was packed with valuable information, including the best password length and combinations, penetration tests and real-world hacking examples, highlights of social engineering-based threats, and economic analyses of growing cyber threats.

The panel portion of the event began at noon and featured representatives from the banking industry, John Deere, Minnkota Power, Altru Health System, and UTC Aerospace Systems. “This is the perfect time of year for individuals, businesses, and other organizations to reflect on cyber threats and to do their part to protect their networks, their devices and their data from those threats,” said Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering Prakash Ranganathan, director of Cyber Security Programs at UND.
