Texas Trust CU Holds FREE Community Shred Event
October 30, 2018
ARLINGTON, Texas – October 30, 2018 – Texas Trust Credit Union shredded hundreds of pounds of paper at its first Get Shredded and Protected event in Flower Mound.
Several hundred people came out to have confidential documents, CDs, and video tapes shredded on-site and to discard unneeded paper, eliminating the danger of financial fraud or identity theft. The service was free and available to anyone in the area.
Todd Jones, an identity theft expert, was also on hand to meet with people and offer tips on how they can protect their identity. He conducted dark web scans for people he visited with to show them how identity thieves work and how to protect themselves from cyber criminals.
“We want to help safeguard the community from becoming victims of fraud. This event was just one small way for us to help do that,” said Valarie Weaver, Flower Mound Branch Manager of Texas Trust Credit Union. “It was great to help so many Flower Mound residents safely discard their personal documents and help educate them about the dark web and ways they can protect themselves beyond just shredding personal information.”
