LOWELL, MA – As the third quarter came to an end, Friends of the Dracut Library came out on top as the winner of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s Give-A-Click campaign. Friends of the Dracut Library received a $1,500 donation from the Credit Union’s We Share A Common Thread Foundation.

The Give-A-Click program runs every quarter on the We Share a Common Thread Foundation website. Community members visit the site, learn about three worthy non-profit contestants, and cast their vote for the one they would like to support. The organization with the most votes at the end of the quarter is awarded a $1,500 donation from the Foundation.

“Our patrons really came through for us, and we so appreciate that,” said Diane Annunziato, Assistant Director of Parker Memorial Library.

Friends of the Dracut Library supports Parker Memorial Library by promoting awareness, raising funds and sponsoring programs and events to benefit the library and the community members who use its services. In 2017, there were 250 programs offered by the library, most of which would not have been available without the support from the Friends. The organization also provides a scholarship to one college-bound student each year. The donation from the Give-A-Click campaign will be used to expand the children, teen and adult programs at the Library.

“This donation is going to enable us to do a lot of things that we wouldn’t have been able to do, said Annunziato.”

Friends of the Dracut Library and Parker Memorial Library shared their participation on Facebook, with patrons of the library, and the town of Dracut to reel in the most votes.

“We publicized it throughout the town, and a lot of people responded positively, even people who didn’t even come into the library,” said John Hassan, Secretary to Friends of the Dracut Library.

“We were up against two very good charities, and not only our patrons, but their friends, family and other people went on to watch the video and voted,” said Gretchen Mayall, President of Friends of the Dracut Library.

Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union was honored to also feature Special Teams for Exceptional People (S.T.E.P.) and Westford Friends of East Boston Camps in the third quarter Give-A-Click campaign. The fourth quarter campaign kicked off on October 1st with Dwelling House of Hope, Alternative House and Gateways Community Services vying for the next donation prize.

Community members are encouraged to visit WSACT.com to cast their vote.
