Credit Union Accepting Community Spirit Scholarship Applications

pastedGraphic�Basking Ridge, N.J. The Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity corporation, is accepting applications for the Robert L. Birkhahn Community Spirit Scholarship. This award is available to graduating high school seniors who are members of Affinity, and have a passion for giving back to the community.

Applicants must be entering their freshman year and use the scholarship to attend an accredited two or four-year college or university. The scholarship, which has been awarded since 1992 as the Affinity Scholarship, has been renamed and dedicated to Affinity Executive Vice President Robert L. Birkhahn who passed away on January 9, 2013. "Renaming this prestigious award in Bobs honor is a fitting tribute to his memory," said John T. Fenton,� Affinity president & CEO.� "He exemplified Affinitys culture, which centers on giving, doing, and finding ways to help our members and community.� Affinity is proud to be able to encourage the pursuit of higher education for its members", Fenton continued, "and we know that financial assistance plays a critical role in a familys decision when it comes to choosing the right school." Applications can be downloaded online at: http://www.affinityfcu.org/scholarship.� Scholarships are one-time-only awards and payable for the 2013-2014 academic year.
