Phoenix, AZ- On Tuesday, September 25th, Desert Financial Credit Union committed to fundraising $2 million in the next three years for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. These funds will continue to support what Desert Financial has for over the past 20 years at Phoenix Children’s Hospital: the 1 Darn Cool School. This $2 million pledge marks the largest by a single credit union to a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

A few very special guests were in attendance: the teachers of the school and Mandy who is a patient at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and has been a regular student at 1 Darn Cool School. Desert Financial even surprised the teachers by also gifting each them a wagon full of school supplies.

The 1 Darn Cool School is available to all children currently enrolled in kindergarten – 12th grade, or special education 5-21 years old. The school provides education on a range of subjects, including music as seen below. They also provide parent resources and support, transition students back to traditional school, procter exams, provide information on alternative education, and much more.

These funds are raised through a program called Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids). CU4kids is a program run by Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals. In over 22 years of partnering, CU4kids has raised an astonishing $170 million+! CMN Hospitals raises funds and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals around North America, with every dollar raised staying in each local community.
