Rapid City, SD - Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) is providing a new banking service to Hermosa, South Dakota. This small town located south of Rapid City in Custer County does not have a financial institution at all – but now they have the next best thing: An interactive teller machine (ITM).
The ITM was installed in Pop's Grocery Shoppe about two and a half months ago, and already, the credit union has seen hundreds of transactions conducted each month. The primary goal of the ITM was to bring credit union services to their members, saving them a trip to Rapid City.
Besides the new Hermosa ITM, BHFCU has six other locations featuring the enhanced teller service: Three are located in Rapid City and three in Sioux Falls.
ITM technology allows members to do more than just what is possible at an ATM. Black Hills Federal Credit Union vice president of marketing & business development, Carol Brown, says "you can pull up to the ITM, simply touch the screen, and a teller pops up and you are having a conversation with the teller. You can deposit a check to the penny, you can cash a check, you can withdraw, move money from one account to a loan, anything that you want to do that you would normally do at a teller."
The ITM in Hermosa was even featured on a recent newscast on KOTA TV, which you can see here.
Members can gain access to these machines Monday through Saturday. Monday through Thursday the ITM’s are up from 6:30 in the morning to 5:30 in the evening. On Friday they are working from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm and on Saturday they are open 8:00 am to noon.
