Bannockburn (IL) – In support of Great Lakes Credit Union’s (GLCU) initiative to support its communities, on October 9, 2018, GLCU Supervisory Committee Member, David Goles, contributed $3,000 to Senior Care Volunteer Network (SCVN) of McHenry County.

GLCU is proud to support the communities in which its members live. For the third year in a row, GLCU’s Board of Directors adopted an extraordinary plan to give back to its neighbors; Branch Managers of each GLCU location work closely with Board Members to support local charities.

Since 1998, SCVN has served all seniors, age 60 and over, who live in McHenry County or Sun City Huntley.  Their mission is to help seniors maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life by remaining in their own homes or the home of a loved one for as long as possible.  Volunteers provide services such as transportation to life critical, life-sustaining as well as life-enriching destinations, friendly visits, minor home repairs, yard work, and shopping all at absolutely no charge to the senior.  To learn more about SCVN, go to https://www.scvnmchenrycounty.org/about/about-us/

“It is with great appreciation and gratitude that I was able to accept this generous donation awarded by Great Lakes Credit Union on behalf of Senior Care Volunteer Network. This donation to SCVN will help us support more seniors who require assistance in order to remain independent and living in their own homes.” Sarah Schrempf, Executive Director of SCVN.

Founded in 1938, GLCU continues to be a growing staple in the community. Today the not-for-profit financial institution serves more than 82,000 members and has over $841 million in assets. GLCU’s corporate headquarters are in Bannockburn with 11 branches throughout Chicagoland. GLCU also belongs to the CO-OP Shared Branching Network where members may access their GLCU accounts at over 5,600 credit unions branches nationwide and at any of the 30,000 FREE COOP Network ATMs. The credit union prides itself in building lifelong relationships and providing financial education for members during all life stages.
