Battle Creek, MI - Kellogg Community Credit Union (KCCU) hosted a Shred Day/Food Drive on September 29th, at two of their branches: 6427 Beckley Road North branch in Battle Creek; and 2925 Oakland Drive branch in the Oakwood Plaza, Kalamazoo. KCCU asked for non-perishable food items in exchange for securely shredding paper documents, and the event was open to everyone in the community.

“We are so pleased with the participation of community members in our Shred Day and Food Drive!” stated Tracy Miller, KCCU’s CEO. “We collected 585 pounds of food for local food banks to distribute to members of the communities we serve. Plus, we saved 49 trees with the amount of paper that was shredded. A big ‘thank you’ to all who participated, as we couldn’t have done it without you!”

“Our partnership with Kellogg Community Credit Union through the years has really been beneficial to the Food Bank and we hope to their employees and customers as well,” said Holly Cavinder, Communications Manager at the Food Bank of South Central Michigan. “In addition to various food and fund drives, they have also come out to the Food Bank and volunteered on several occasions and we couldn’t do what we do without awesome volunteers like KCCU!”

KCCU is pleased to report they have saved over 262 trees in 2018 to date after combining the number saved from this Shred Day event along with how many have been saved by utilizing in-branch shred bins.
