Truliant FCU Donates 250 Pairs of Bombas Socks to Local Homeless Shelters
September 27, 2018
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (September 26, 2018) – Truliant Federal Credit Union is donating a total of 250 pairs of crew socks made by athletic-leisure sock company Bombas to raise awareness for one of the most requested clothing items in homeless shelters: socks.
Since 2013, Bombas has committed to donating a pair of socks for every pair sold. The company has donated more than nine million pairs of socks. Truliant chose to give its employees the option to select a pair of Bombas socks during employee appreciation week in 2018 because of the sock company’s mission and purchase-donation match. The donation has a $3,000 value.
“Just as our mission to improve member lives is at the center of all that we do, we are committed to making a positive social impact in our local communities,” said Renee Shipko, community engagement supervisor. “We are excited about giving back, and with cold weather on the way, this is an item that many of us take for granted and will do a lot of good for those who receive them. We’re proud that our employees choose to support them.”
The donation will be split equally between The Bethesda Center for the Homeless and the Men’s Shelter of Charlotte.
The Men’s Shelter in Charlotte operates two year-round emergency shelters for men experiencing homelessness. It provides basic needs, including beds, meals, restroom and shower facilities, laundry facilities, and personal hygiene items.
The Bethesda Center helps to improve the lives of Winston-Salem’s homeless men and women by providing shelter and housing stabilization services with intensive case management. The Bethesda Center is the only day shelter in the community and the only emergency night shelter that serves adult men and women.
The donation is part of Truliant’s commitment to support local communities and organizations that are dedicated to social good. Bombas socks are touted as offering protection, clean feet, dryness, comfort, health and hygiene, and a new sense of freshness.
