With the help of its amazing members and employees, Foothills Federal Credit Union raised over $6,000.00 for school supply items for Fort Loudoun Middle School.

During the months of June and July, FFCU made containers available in their branches for members and employees to make donations. Letters were also sent to area businesses and members asking for donations for the school supply drive.

On August 2nd the supplies were delivered to Fort Loudoun Middle School. Foothills Federal Credit Union’s school supply drive is different than others.

“We started out with crayons and notebook paper and glue, but then we asked teachers to give a wish list, and it works out so much better,” Amanda Thearp, Foothills Federal Credit Union representative.

The Fort Loudoun Middle School administrators and staff were excited about receiving their supplies. Some of the items on the wish list were cymbals for music class, pool noodles for gym activities, and bookshelves for classrooms.

“The things that they were able to purchase, probably at one time would have taken us two or three years to try and get organized and purchased,” Patrick Bethel, FLMS principal said. “…This is a huge asset for our school.”
