Last September, during Montana's worst fire season in more than a decade, Rocky Mountain CU and other community partners held a one-day Fire Relief drive and collected nearly $45,000 in donations and supplies to support the efforts of weary firefighters with the Lewis & Clark Rural Fire Council. On Wednesday, Rocky Mountain CU was at it again ... even though Helena has had a relatively tame wildfire season so far (knock on wood!), the credit union partnered with Safeway and Montana Lifestyle Real Estate to hold a parking lot fundraiser for the Lewis & Clark Rural Fire Council. Kelly Fleiner, RMCU director of public relations, explained, "We decided to help out last year because the entire state was on fire. But, just because we don't have massive fires this year, doesn't mean our firefighters don't need the support." In fact, she noted the many volunteer fire departments in the Lewis & Clark Rural Fire Council "need our help every year," so they're planning to make the summer fundraiser an annual event. The final tally from this week's fundraiser – over $14,000 in cash and in-kind donations. Wow, talk about the #CUDifference!
