Edwardsville, IL (August 22, 2018) – First Community helped Southern Illinois University Edwardsville kick off the 2018 Fall Semester during their annual Welcome Week. The student body gathered in the Morris University Center throughout the day to enjoy free ice cream and pizza, as well as visit with local businesses. SIUE Chancellor, Randy Pembrook, also stopped by to speak to SIUE students and wish them well on the new school year.

With their newest branch located just down the street from the SIUE campus, First Community was excited to be part of this event and interact with students and employees. Students could check out the new SIUE debit card design options, exclusive to the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon area. College is a major milestone and a lot of important financial decisions happen during that time. Glen Carbon Branch Manager, Mike Roeder, was on hand to answer any questions students had whether it was about checking accounts or car loans, as well as switching to a new financial institution. He also entertained booth visitors with his juggling skills while they entered to win the special giveaway for the day, an Apple TV.

First Community is committed to expanding their relationships within their Illinois communities and look forward to future partnerships and events with SIUE. They will be on hand for the SIUE career fair October 3rd and 4th.
