MIDLAND, MICHIGAN, AUGUST 21, 2018 – A half-dozen volunteers from Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union were among more than 700 communitywide volunteers who participated in Midland County Habitat for Humanity’s ninth annual Neighborhood Revitalization, an initiative that focuses on home preservation, critical home repair and weatherization. DCECU also was a Weatherization sponsor for the event.

The Aug. 3 through 10 event resulted in the rehabilitation of the exteriors of 19 homes in neighborhoods surrounding Midland High School. The DCECU volunteers, who participated on Aug. 7 and 8, spent time replacing trim, prepping and repainting a garage, staining a ramp and deck, and pulling weeds. Other Neighborhood Revitalization projects included roof repair and replacement, driveway removal and replacement, gutter work, screen door replacement, landscaping, and various other projects.

“I was very grateful that I was able to give back and help with this project,” said DCECU Consumer Loan Service Specialist Nicole Krueger, who helped cut wood to update the trim around windows and a garage door . “I also have to mention how blessed I was to have Phil as our team leader. He taught me a lot and was very patient with me, as my skills are very limited. It was a wonderful experience.”
