The Colchester Police Department’s R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) Basic Self-Defense Program for Women has new equipment, thanks to a grant from NorthCountry Federal Credit Union. The free class teaches awareness, risk reduction, and physical defense techniques to women over age 13, from any town. The grant was used to purchase a protective suit worn by the person playing the role of the aggressor during realistic scenario trainings.

“We are happy to support the R.A.D. Basic Self-Defense Program for Women,” says Abbey Welch, NorthCountry’s Colchester Branch Manager. “Nothing is more empowering than knowing you are capable of defending and protecting yourself. I participated in the class and truly believe that the education you receive is so important! It’s also a fun way to bond with other women and interact with your local police officers. I highly recommend this program for any woman in our area.”
