Kinecta Federal Credit Union hosted its 9th Annual Back-to-School Community Block Party at LAFD Firehouse #64 on Saturday, Aug. 11 in Watts.

More than 500 backpacks filled with school supplies were donated by Kinecta Federal Credit Union and Nix Neighborhood Lending employees, members and vendors. Essential back-to-school items were given to deserving elementary students in the Watts community.

During the Block Party event, “Sweet Alice” Harris from Parents of Watts, Assemblymember Mike Gipson and Congress Woman Maxine Waters all helped distribute the backpacks to the children. The event was a big success and Kinecta looks forward to next year’s Back-to-School Community Block Party!
