KNOXVILLE, TENN – People helping people is the core mission of credit unions across the nation. With that purpose at the heart of their work, nine area credit unions are coming together as part of the Credit Unions Care movement to build a Habitat for Humanity home in Knoxville, TN.
Enrichment Federal Credit Union, ETMA Federal Credit Union, Knoxville Area Chapter of Credit Unions, Knoxville Law Enforcement Federal Credit Union, Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union, New South Credit Union, ORNL Federal Credit Union, UT Federal Credit Union and Y-12 Federal Credit Union kicked off their build Saturday, May 19 and continued construction through July.
“Through Credit Unions Care we’re able to come together as one and give back to the communities we serve,” said Betsy Cunningham, Credit Unions Care spokesperson. “It’s not about what logo we wear or what location we drive to in the morning for work; it’s about people and how we can best support our greater community.”
Credit Unions Care is an initiative of the Credit Unions in East Tennessee focusing on the needs of credit union members and operating under a set of core principles including concern for community and cooperation among cooperatives. The credit unions of East Tennessee work as part of Credit Unions Care to propel and support the collaborative credit union mission of people helping people.
