(COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – JULY 31, 2018)–– Security Service Charitable Foundation continues to prioritize the needs of those who have defended our nation’s freedom by donating $5,000 to the Dane R. Balcon Post 2008 American Legion. The $5,000 donation will be used to help veterans’ families with emergency support services to include food, clothing and medical bill assistance.
The Dane R. Balcon Post 2008 American Legion is part of The American Legion, chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, veterans’ organization, devoted to mutual helpfulness and serving all veterans. This post is based in El Paso County which is home to 627,000 residents, including 84,696 veterans and 40,500 active duty men and service women.
“We believe in the spirit of service, not self,” said John Sonnichsen, commander for the Dane R. Balcon Post 2008 American Legion. “Security Service Federal Credit Union’s generous donation will help us to continue honoring the men and women who are active duty, those who have served this country, as well as members of our community.”
“The Dane R. Balcon Post 2008 American Legion has been a pillar of hope in our local community,” said Derrick Aguilar, senior vice president of member service for Security Service Federal Credit Union—Mountain Region. “In just the past six months, they fed 216 children who had nowhere else to turn. We’re pleased to provide them with this donation so they can continue to improve lives throughout El Paso, Fremont and Teller counties in Colorado.”
