City & County CU Hosts Shred it Days & Raises 1,870 Pounds of Food

City & County Credit Union - ST. PAUL, Minn. (July 31, 2018) - To help secure the privacy of members and help feed the community, City & County Credit Union hosted a Shred it Days event at all branch locations from July 18 – 21 with a focus on – We Shred, You Donate. In exchange for free secure shredding of documents, members were encouraged to donate non-perishable food and personal hygiene items for Second Harvest Heartland.

With the help of members and the community, City & County raised 1,870 pounds of food and $167 for Second Harvest Heartland during the four-day event. In total, City & County provided 2,059 meals for families in our local community.

“At City & County Credit Union, our mission is to empower our community to do more. By hosting a Shred it Days event, not only are we able to help our members protect themselves from identity theft through secure shredding, but also help provide the necessary resources our community needs to thrive,” Megan Primeau, VP of Marketing explained.

From 2017 to 2018, City & County’s Shred it Days event had a 78% increase in food donations – including a bigger donation for personal hygiene products.

“We are absolutely overwhelmed by the gracious support from our members.” Megan Primeau said, “In true cooperative spirit, it was heartwarming to see our staff and members working together to make a difference in our community.”
