Jeanne D'Arc CU Awards $1,500 to Able to Serve to Help Community Members in Need
July 19, 2018
We share a passion for our members and community: that’s our common thread.
LOWELL, MA – Able to Serve – New England, Inc. is Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s latest Give-A-Click winner, receiving a $1,500 donation from the Credit Union’s We Share A Common Thread Foundation.
The Give-A-Click program runs every quarter on the Credit Union’s We Share a Common Thread Foundation website. Community members visit the site, learn about worthy non-profit organizations, and cast their vote for the one they would like to support. The organization with the most votes at the end of the quarter is awarded a $1,500 donation from the Foundation.
Sister Robin McCarthy, Founder and Executive Director, expressed her gratitude to the Credit Union for taking a chance on her organization and including Able to Serve – New England, Inc. in the campaign.
Sr. Robin founded Able to Serve – New England, Inc. in response to her calling as a Roman Catholic Consecrated Nun. The organization, based in Lowell, provides basic necessities, such as food, clothing, financial assistance and transportation, to community members in need.
“These are basic needs, things we all take for granted,” Sr. Robin stated. She says the $1,500 donation will help “save a few lives” as it will provide resources for people who would otherwise not have access to life essentials and assistance with medical care.
“Sister Robin McCarthy is a remarkable person who dedicates her life to putting others before herself,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “Social responsibility is a crucial part of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union, and Sister Robin clearly demonstrates the meaning of community support. We are proud to assist her and the organization’s mission,” he added.
Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union was also honored to feature Pelham Good Neighbor Fund as a nominee in the 2018 second quarter Give-A-Click campaign.
The third quarter contest kicked off on July 1st with the following organizations vying for the next donation: Westford Friends of East Boston Camps, Friends of the Dracut Library and Special Teams for Exceptional People (STEP).
Voting is now open at WSACT.com, and all community members are encouraged to visit the website to cast their vote.
