CSE Federal Credit Union Awards $4,000 in Scholarships

LAKE CHARLES, LA – July 17, 2018 – CSE Federal Credit Union recognized four deserving high school seniors with scholarship awards during the credit union’s seventy-fourth Annual Meeting on May 10. Kaylee Cormier, Bethany Deitch, Shekinah Jordan and Antonia Lubrano each received $1,000 toward their continued education at a college or vocational school program of their choice. 

Kaylee, the daughter of Kasey and Todd Cormier, is a graduate of Iowa High School (IHS). As a participant of National High School Rodeo, Kaylee is a three-time national qualifier, two-time Louisiana State High School Goat Tying Champion and the 2016 International Goat Tying Champion. Her athletic achievements continued as a four-year IHS varsity softball player and three-year varsity cross country team member. She was chosen as the Calcasieu Parish Student of the Year in both 2014 and 2018. Above all she maintained a 4.0 grade point average. She has been accepted to the McNeese State University Honors College, and after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences and biology, she plans to attend veterinary school. 

Bethany, the daughter of Lindsey and Schuyler Deitch, is a graduate of McKinney High School (MHS). She was a member of the MHS Consortium Orchestra and the Crosspoint Church Youth Praise Band in McKinney, Texas. She is also the recipient of Texas A&M University’s Department of Atmospheric Sciences scholarship for 2018. This fall she will attend Texas A&M with a major field of study in meteorology.

Shekinah, the daughter of Catherine and Edward Jordan, is a graduate of Westlake High School. Her academic accomplishments include winning first place in the South Lake Charles division of the Optimist Club Essay Contest, as well as fifth place in the Beauregard Electric Essay Contest. She was a member of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council of Westlake and a participant in the High School Dual Enrollment program of McNeese State University. Her achievements while in this program include making the President’s List for the 2017 fall semester. Shekinah will attend Louisiana State University in the fall, pursuing a degree in biological sciences.

Antonia, the daughter of Melanie and Gino Lubrano, is a graduate of A. M. Barbe High School. As the captain of the swim team, Antonia was a year-round and high school swim state finalist. Her academic excellence placed her on the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s Class All-Academic Team, which recognizes senior student-athletes who have attained a 3.5 grade point average or higher. Her memberships included National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Diocesan Youth Core Team and Mu Alpha Theta, of which she was treasurer. Antonia will pursue a degree in nursing at Texas State University this fall.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship Management Services, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.
