Hanscom AFB, MA (July 1, 2018) – Hanscom Federal Credit Union participated in the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” on June 9, 2018, in Burlington, MA, raising a grand total of $12,860 through a variety of channels, the most ever raised by Hanscom FCU’s “4 A Cure” 17-member team. Throughout the year, the team surpassed their financial goal of raising $5,000 by hosting fundraisers and collecting pledges from friends, family, and co-workers.
The total included a $5,200 match through Hanscom FCU’s Charitable Foundation. Additionally, the credit union was an event sponsor at the $1,000 level, which allowed for a table and tent used to sell raffle tickets for donated gift baskets during Relay.
“Relay for Life has given me a way to offer positive support to someone with cancer,” said Sandy Imbrogna, Hanscom FCU’s “4 A Cure” team captain and a training specialist at the credit union. “It’s a great thing to be involved in.”
Said Hanscom FCU’s Chairman of the Board Paul Marotta, who attended in the event, “Relay for Life is fun, joyous 12-hour event many of our employees look forward to participating in each year, but we never forget how devastating a cancer diagnosis can be. Thanks to fundraising events like Relay and the aggressive search for cures by researchers, cancer will, someday, be a disease we’ll leave in the past.”
