(Somerville, MA) Naveo Credit Union hosted Hops & Homebuyers, a first time homebuyer workshop at Aeronaut Brewing Co., one of their member businesses and neighbors, on Tuesday, June 26. The workshop garnered attention from many non-members, allowing Naveo to meet new people, share what a credit union is and how to prepare them in buying their first home. The workshop was promoted via social media, email blasts and Aeronaut’s event calendar.

Naveo hosts monthly first time homebuyer workshops, but wanted to partner with Aeronaut to offer the community a unique and casual workshop outside of the Credit Union. Aeronaut, which is down the street from Naveo’s Somerville branch, seemed like a perfect fit. Attendees were treated to a glass of Aeronaut beer as well as pizza during the workshop. The workshop location and style drew in many millennials, a demographic that is booming in the Somerville and Cambridge area.

The workshop serves as an informative session where attendees, regardless of their readiness to buy, can learn about preparing for a mortgage, the application process as well as saving for a down payment, reducing debt and learning about the local real estate market. Attendees were presented with a coupon for $375 off an appraisal applicable for applications received by 12/31/18.

“We are grateful to our neighbors at Aeronaut for partnering with Naveo in bringing together people aspiring to buy their first home,” commented Albert Pinho, Vice President of Lending at Naveo Credit Union. “At this event we met a number of people who are taking their first steps toward fulfilling their dream of owning a home. We appreciated the opportunity to encourage those dreams with good financial advice from our team of experienced lenders.”
