Greater Texas Credit Unions Greater Good Volunteers help at North Texas Food Bank

Dallas, TX – Greater Texas Credit Union’s Dallas branch staff Maida Hodge and Mirian Reynaga spent part of their workday volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) on June 13, 2018. They helped process 11,200 pounds of food which created 9,333 meals.

Greater Texas employees get two full days of paid volunteer time per year as part of the Greater Good Volunteer Program launched in 2017. Last year over 200 hours were given and 20+ organizations were supported across Texas by credit union employees. The Dallas team volunteers at the North Texas Food Bank 2-3 times a year as part of their outreach. “I like what this organization does for the community. When volunteering, we want to prepare as many meals as we can, and when the time ends we leave with such a feeling of achievement,” said Maida.

The North Texas Food Bank and their feeding network provide access to more than 190,000 meals for hungry children, seniors and families across the 13 counties daily. In 2017, NTFB provided access to almost 70 million meals. https://www.ntfb.org/
