IC Federal CU Awards $7,500 in Scholarships

Fitchburg, MA – June 21, 2018 - IC Federal Credit Union proudly announces their 2018 Senior Scholarship Program Award Recipients. Five senior graduates were presented $1,500 each for achieving nearly perfect scores from the IC Scholarship Committee, weighted by GPA, extracurricular activities, and response to this essay question: In about 250 words, how would you help the community in which you live, what type of program would you endorse or create, and how would you spread the message throughout the community to promote this program.
Elizabeth Jones of Ayer, a recent graduate from Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Westford, will be attending Suffolk University in the fall. Elizabeth earned an Associate’s Degree in Communications from Mount Wachusett Community College via the Dual Enrollment program while at Nashoba. “I will be attending Suffolk University in the fall majoring in Political Science. I plan to then go to Suffolk Law School after I receive my Bachelor's Degree. I hope one day to be a United States Senator from the state of Massachusetts.”
Erin Doyle of Leominster graduated from Leominster High School and will be continuing her education at the University of Rhode Island as a Technical Theatre major. “I plan to take part in the university theater productions, get involved with Habitat for Humanity, and also volunteer at the University library or the public library down the street.”
Benjamin Telicki of Westminster recently graduated from Oakmont Regional High School in Ashburnham, and will be attending Williams College this fall. “I plan on pursuing a degree in biology or chemistry and running track at Williams College, with the ultimate goal of making a difference in the lives of others.”
Logan Cormier of Fitchburg recently graduated from Fitchburg High School and will be attending Plymouth State University in the fall for her major in Music Education. She achieved a place in the Top Ten of her graduating class, with a final GPA of 4.52, and as a member of Fitchburg High School's Honors Academy and the National Honor Society. “I am excited to share my love for music and performing in college with my future music students!”
Shane F. Braz of Peabody graduated from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. Over the next few years, Shane will be a student-athlete at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, majoring in Secondary Education and English. “I will be participating on the school's Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track teams while at Stonehill.”
“This year was especially tough,” said Tony Emerson, President & CEO of IC Federal Credit Union, “as we had a record number of applicants at 45, and they are all amazing individuals with notable accomplishments. We wish all our applicants and all the graduates the best in their future endeavors.”
The awards were presented by Mary Scott, Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Tony Emerson, President & CEO.
