Connex Donates More Than $700 to Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services

Guilford, Conn (May 25, 2018) - Connex Credit Union recently donated more than $700 to Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS) in support of the organization’s mission. These funds were raised through Coins-for-Change, Connex’s philanthropic program that contributes more than $13,000 annually to local charitable organizations as part of the ConnexCares initiative.
Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS) is Guilford-based organization that helps resettle refugees and other immigrants in Connecticut towns, and assists them on their road to self-sufficiency by providing support during their transition to life in the United States.
“We're thrilled that Connex made IRIS a Coins-for-Change recipient! We help refugees, the most deserving and carefully vetted immigrants in history, get a new start in Connecticut,” said, Will Kneerim, Employment and Education Services Director, IRIS. “A big thank-you goes out to Connex and all their Guilford customers who contributed. IRIS will use the funds to furnish apartments, buy school uniforms for kids, and provide used bicycles for our clients who've escaped violence in their home countries.”

With the Coins-for-Change program, Connex charges a 5 percent fee to members, and a 7 percent fee to non-members, to use its coin-cashing machines. Each fiscal quarter, 100 percent of this money is donated to deserving organizations in the local community.
