(Riverside, Calif.) May 24, 2018 –  For a third year, Altura Credit Union was the title sponsor of the Riverside Tamale Festival, the signature fundraising event of the Spanish Town Heritage Foundation.  The 6th annual event, held in late April, raised funds to restore the Trujillo Adobe. Built in 1842, the adobe is among the last remaining first non-native settlements in the area. It is a designated Riverside landmark and California site of historical significance.

Thousands of people flocked to White Park to celebrate Riverside’s Latino heritage and culture on a warm Saturday. Altura volunteers handed out Altura branded fans to help keep event-goers cool throughout the day. The event featured Ballet Folklorico dance troupes, Mariachi bands, kids activities, a car show and performances by musical groups, including Grammy-winning La Santa Cecilia. This year’s festival also featured a papier-mache sculpture of a tamale created by local artist Cynthia Huerta.
