Jackson, Miss.—The 4th Annual CU at the Zoo was a roaring success with approximately 3,200 guests in attendance; 2,500 whom received free admission thanks to the Credit Unions of Mississippi.

The event was held on Saturday, April 28, at the Jackson Zoo, not only to celebrate April as National Credit Union Youth Month, but also as an opportunity to give back to the community by offering free admission to the zoo.

This year there were 11 credit unions who participated: Jackson Area Federal Credit Union, Statewide Federal Credit Union, Keesler Federal Credit Union, Members Exchange Credit Union, Hope Credit Union, Mississippi Federal Credit Union, Magnolia Federal Credit Union, Eagle Express Federal Credit Union, Rivertrust Federal Credit Union, Mutual Credit Union and CommFirst Federal Credit Union.

The credit unions were on-site at the zoo to offer financial literacy resources for youth, as well as activities, games and prizes.

After the event, Angela Mitchell, AVP of Marketing at Members Exchange Credit Union, congratulated the participating credit unions on the success of the event.

"Thank you to everyone who made CU at the Zoo another successful event, for the fourth year in a row,” said Mitchell. “We are able to continue offering this free event to the community annually, because of the cooperation of credit unions working together. That is a powerful platform and I hope we are able to continue this partnership for many years to come."

The Jackson Zoo’s Special Events Manager, Toni Francis, thanked the credit unions for their continuous support of the zoo and the community.

“CU at the Zoo has become a traditional celebration to kick off spring at the zoo. We are honored to be the chosen venue for credit unions to celebrate Youth Month,” Francis said. “CU at the Zoo brings so much excitement and joy to guests and zoo staff. We look forward to a continued partnership with the credit unions of Mississippi.”
