Madison, SD – National Youth Month blasted off at East River Federal Credit Union on April 2nd. Youth month celebrates our young savers and promotes financial literacy and awareness nationwide, so the credit union lobby was decorated with this year’s theme “The Science of Saving” in mind. Activities were available all month for PeeWee Penguin Youth Club members as well as all youth in the community.

Youngsters that stopped by during the month received a science-themed box filled with prizes. Additionally, they were encouraged to save their money in the box throughout the month and make a deposit to be included in the National Youth Savings Challenge. Over 75 deposits were made during the month!

A coloring contest with the “Science of Saving” theme was open to all area youth and several excellent entries were received. Winners were awarded with a PeeWee Penguin prize package. A microscope was also on display during the month that youth could sign up to win. Shown in the photo is the winner from the drawing, Carson.

Finally, in celebration of National Youth Month, East River Federal Credit Union donated $600 to the local Junior Achievement program, which promotes financial literacy and economics to Madison area youth.
