LOWELL, MA – As a continuation of its Small Acts That Give Back initiative, Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union recently held a campaign that earned four lucky members assistance with paying their heating costs incurred during this past winter.

The Small Acts That Give Back – Pay Your Heating Bill Campaign kicked off on February 26, 2018, and ran through March 24th.  Hopeful members applied for the chance to receive up to $400 toward their heating costs.  The Credit Union made entry forms available in its branches and online at LoveJDCU.com.

On the entry form, applicants provided their compelling reasons for needing help with their heating costs. The Credit Union received a total of 78 entries, and chose one winner on each Monday in March based on the stories the entrants told.

Jessie Nokham of Lowell, Scott Wozniakowski of Nashua, Tammy Herring of Lowell and Pamela Murphy of Dracut were all named winners of the Pay Your Heating Bill campaign.

“We understand this winter came with extreme weather, and as a result, heating expenses were very high for many of our members,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “We wanted to do our part in providing some assistance. The winners of this campaign were very excited to receive some help with their heating costs.”

The winners first saw the campaign advertised on the Credit Union’s website, JDCU.com.  Although they each believed they would not be selected, they decided to test their luck and tell their stories.  Based on the details they provided, the Credit Union chose them as the campaign winners, earning them up to $400 toward their heating expenses, which included a recent gas, electric, oil or propane bill.

“Since I’m a single parent, and each month I spend more than I have, this helped me tremendously,” said Pamela Murphy, week four winner. “I will actually have some extra money for other things, which is something I’m not used to at all. By having these contests, it shows that Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union understands the current economy and understands that people live paycheck to paycheck.”

“I am currently on a debt free journey, and the amount I was going to use to pay my bill went to paying off my overdraft account with Jeanne D’Arc,” said Jessie Nokham, week one winner. “It is a great feeling to know that Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union is involved in helping the community and looks for different ways to be of assistance.”

Jeanne D’Arc’s Small Acts are not over yet. The Credit Union looks forward to launching more campaigns in the coming months.
