OPELOUSAS, LOUISIANA – Pelican State Credit Union hosted a Financial Wellness Workshop on Tuesday, March 27, in Opelousas to continue to invest in its St. Landry Parish community!

Everyone was invited! The free workshop was open to the public and took place at the Delta Grand Theatre. Attendees were treated to dinner, prizes and a chance to meet Pelican’s Opelousas and Financial Outreach teams.

One of Pelican’s six Nationally Certified Credit Counselors broke down credit reports and scores for 40 attendees. In addition to learning tips for improving and maintaining a healthy credit score, attendees asked countless questions after the presentation–including the difference between credit unions and banks!

Pelican State Credit Union merged with St. Landry Federal Credit Union in November 2017 and is honored to announce that Pelican membership is now open to all St. Landry Parish residents. Every member has access to meet personally with Pelican’s Nationally Certified Credit Counselors and share their unique stories. Through meeting with a credit counselor, members can obtain the resources needed to make healthy financial decisions and better their current situations, whether it be rebuilding their credit or saving for retirement.
