Credit Unions Present $380,000 to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals
April 6, 2018
Credit unions presented Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital with a check for $380,000 Thursday, leading into this weekend’s Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. The annual race has been sponsored by credit 17 years, raising more than $8 million for 170 children’s hospitals around the country.
CUNA sponsors the race, along with Congressional FCU, United States Senate FCU, the National Association for Federally Insured Credit Unions and many others, including lead sponsors CUNA Mutual Group and PSCU
“We’re proud to be sponsoring this race for the 17th year. Through this race credit unions all across the country collaborate to raise awareness about credit union on Capitol Hill, and support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at the same time,” said Eli Joseph, CUNA’s deputy chief advocacy officer. “We’re proud to be part of such a wonderful example of the credit union difference.”
The race also includes the Capitol Hill Competition, sponsored by Congressional FCU and United States Senate FCU, in which House and Senate staffers form teams and compete for the Capitol Hill Cup. This year, 606 staffers on 55 teams are expected to compete.
“The Children’s Miracle Network does such phenomenal work for so many families,” said Sean Zimmermann, Congressional Federal President/CEO. “Sponsoring this competition is one of the most effective opportunities we as a credit union have to give back to the community each year. In excess of 200 members of Congress have recognized our efforts to raise awareness for children’s hospitals by becoming honorary race chairs, and we are honored to have them join us.”
