Members Exchange CU Coin Drive Raises $3,500 for Children's Hospital
March 14, 2018
Jackson, Miss.—Members Exchange Credit Union partnered with Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital to host a Miracle Workers Coin Drive, which raised $3,500 for the hospital.
The Miracle Worker Program’s goal was to generate excitement and raise money to help launch the Mississippi Miracles Radiothon Feb. 28-March 2. Miracle Workers encouraged fellow students, co-workers, friends and family to contribute their spare change to the coin drive. Teachers from Canton 9th Grade Academy and Provine High School had their students participate in the coin drive.
Mrs. Johnson’s class at Provine High School raised $370 and won a pizza party with Radio DJs. Every Miracle Worker that submitted a donation was entered to win a $100 Visa Gift Card, and the first 50 to turn in a donation received a Batson t-shirt and keepsake piggy bank.
“We’re so grateful for teachers, like Mrs. Johnson, that want to teach their students the importance of giving back,” said Angela Mitchell, AVP of Marketing.
Thanks to contributions from every Miracle Worker, the collected efforts totaled $3,500. Members Exchange presented the check to the hospital during the Mississippi Miracles Radiothon on March 1. The three-day Radiothon event raised $502,470 for the Children’s Hospital.
“This is Members Exchange second year to sponsor the Miracle Workers Program, and we are amazed how spare change can add up.” said Mitchell.
Members Exchange will continue to collect funds for Batson Children’s Hospital throughout the year as part of the Credit Union 4 Kids movement. Credit Unions across the country help raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through the CU 4 Kids collaboration, and are the 3rd largest sponsor of CMN Hospitals.
We welcome all teachers and students in the area to participate in our next coin drive. Please contact Angela Mitchell if you would like to sign up as a Miracle Worker.
