Credit union gives $50K to benefit concert for wounded Marine
April 27, 2013
JACKSONVILLE, AL - A credit union donated thousands of dollars today toward a benefit concert for a wounded Jacksonville Marine.
Wednesday, AOD Credit Union, the one used by Sgt. Ben Tomlinson and his family, announced a $50,000 donation to the "Tunnels to Towers" project.
The donation means they're now a major co-sponsor a benefit concert by Gary Sinese and the Lt. Dan Band.
The concert will raise money for a specially-designed "smart home" for Tomlinson, whose injuries in Afghanistan left him a paraplegic.
Tomlinson says he's once again overwhelmed at the response from his hometown and says he'd like the concert to remember all who have sacrificed in war, not just him.
The concert is set for May 19 at Jacksonville State University.
AOD Credit Union officials also say they'll give free tickets to any credit union member who is a disabled veteran.
